Mitrajaya held its first ever charity run at Taman Puchong Prima with more than 400 participants consisting of staff and members of the public. The objective of the run was to promote healthy living and to give back to the society as part of the company's CSR programme. There were two categories for the event – 3.5 km and 7.5 km. The event successfully raised a total of RM 48,000 for four charities, namely the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), Yayasan Kebajikan SSL Haemodialysis, Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah Wilayah Persekutuan and The Penang Home for the Infirm and Aged. Other activities held were free health screening by the NKF, lucky draw and cake cutting birthday celebrations for the staff born in November, December and January.
Corporate Social Responsibility
As a corporate citizen, Mitrajaya is committed to uphold its Corporate Social Responsibility. Over the years, we have been continuously making contributions and sponsorships to various charitable and social organisation events.
Through the auspices of our Sports Club, Mitrajaya has engaged civil society in a number of tangible ways - visits to orphanages, homes for the elderly and disabled.
The Sports Club also promotes the culture of 'Work Smart, Play Hard' amongst for our staff by organising sport activities, excursion trips and family day carnivals amongst others. The Club remains a good conduit to enhance the well-being of our employees and fostering a strong team spirit.
Mitrajaya Supports the Urban Poor
Mitrajaya contributed RM 10,000 to the TA Family Living Skills Centre (TAFLSC) which was set up to equip poor families living in Taman Medan with skills and knowledge needed at work and school to be more self-reliant. The centre's current project is to empower single or poor mothers with sewing skills and their efforts proved extremely fruitful when 150 sets of new hand-sewn school uniforms were donated to deserving students at SJK(C) San Yuk, Rawang. On hand to present the uniforms to the students were Mitrajaya Sales & Marketing Director Ms Serene Kok and one of the founders of TAFLSC Ms Goh Siew Bee.
The Sports and Recreational Club organised its first ever Archery Tag event, where members battled it out with bow and arrow in a "Deathmatch" arena. But despite the intense battle, all 24 participants walked away unharmed, with nary a bruise as the arrows were foam-tipped, making it safe enough even for kids!
Futsal Tournament 2016
The Sports and Recreational Club organised its annual futsal tournament, once again at KSL Puchong, where members competed for top honours and cash prizes. Altogether 15 Men's teams and 3 Women's teams competed, making it the largest futsal competition organised to date! Ola Bola!
Pulau Lang Tengah Island Getaway
The Mitrajaya Sports and Recreational Club organised a fully subsidised getaway trip to the beautiful Pulau Lang Tengah for its members. Small, hilly and covered in rainforest, this island is located between Pulau Perhentian and Pulau Redang, and is blessed with an abundance of coral and marine life in pristine condition. The lucky staff enjoyed themselves with snorkelling and diving activities there as well as taking a chance to rejuvenate, relax and recharge.
Fostering Team Spirit
The employees of Mitrajaya were in Paradise Valley Broga, Semenyih for a team building event to foster team spirit, strengthen communication skills and to promote healthy living. A total of 160 employees joined the event which was held in two sessions. Some of the exciting activities of the event included obstacle courses, raft building, hiking, flying fox and others.
Mitrajaya celebrated its 31st anniversary with a Bollywood Night theme at the Four Points Hotel, Puchong. The highlights of the night include staff performances from the winners of the Karaoke Night organised earlier this year as well as the Lucky Draw prizes. The top prize of the night was an all-expenses paid trip for two to the Maldives.
Pine Tree Hill Hike
This year's annual hike event was to another mossy forest in Pahang – Pine Tree Hill – which is 1,448m high at its peak. We hiked via the Pine Tree Trail, the longest and most strenuous of the 8 jungle trails in Frasers Hill. All 29 participants successfully summited the peak, with most of the group even reaching the further "Twin Peak" to catch a 360 degree view of the surrounding mountain ranges.
Health Awareness Talk
In line with the company's objective to promote healthy living, a health awareness talk was organised for the employees. The session was led by Dr. Wan Mohd Afham, a specialist in breast surgery and hepatology from the Medicine Faculty of UiTM (MBBS). The topics presented were the overview, prevention and early detection of breast cancer, liver disease and other chronic diseases. Attendees of the talk were also provided with free blood pressure tests, urine tests and consultation.
Mitrajaya Hari Raya Get Together
Mitrajaya Holdings Berhad celebrated Hari Raya with a scrumptious lunch event at its Headquarters for employees. The management also took the opportunity to celebrate the birthdays of employees born in the month of July.
Hari Raya Celebrations with Orphans
This Hari Raya was made special when more than 50 employees of Mitrajaya paid a visit to Rumah Anak-Anak Yatim At-Taqwa, Puchong to present a cash donation, daily necessities and duit raya packets to the orphans of the home. During the visit, our employees were treated to a special and touching performance by the orphans as a sign of their appreciation. The home currently cares for 65 orphans.
Mitrajaya Shows Support for Dialysis Centre
Mitrajaya donated RM 5,000 to Persatuan Dialisis Kurnia Petaling Jaya Selangor, a non-profit Dialysis Centre to help out the less fortunate end-stage renal failure patients and their families. Founded in 2001, the centre's objectives are to manage and run a haemodialysis centre providing treatment for end-stage renal failure patients, to provide financial assistance to patients irrespective of race, religion or creed and to provide counselling to patients and their family members.
Buka Puasa Treat for the Elderly
The staff of Mitrajaya paid a visit to Rumah Jagaan dan Rawatan Orang Tua Al-ikhlas during the holy month of Ramadan. The underprivileged elderly there were treated to a buka puasa event and Duit Raya packets. Mr. Kong Yee Teck, Senior Group HR & Admin Manager was present to handover a cash donation to the home to assist in their daily necessities and operation. The home currently has 35 elderly under its care.
Safety First for Mitrajaya
More than 100 employees of Mitrajaya participated in a fire drill at the Headquarters, Taman Puchong Prima. During the drill, the employees were given practical training of the emergency evacuation procedure and shown a demonstration on how to use the fire extinguisher. A number of brave employees even had a chance to practise putting out a small fire using the fire extinguisher.
The employees from various subsidiaries of the Mitrajaya Group gathered for the annual badminton competition. Participants competed in five categories where cash prizes were up for grabs: Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
Blood Donation Drive
Mitrajaya organised the annual blood donation drive with Pusat Darah Negara in May this year. Since its inaugural event in 2013, the staff has successfully donated more than 130 pints of blood to help save lives.
The Mitrajaya Paintball Tournament was held at Werdna Hol Sportz in Bandar Bukit Puchong. Organised by the Sports and Recreational Club, the tournament was held to foster teamwork and encourage camaraderie amongst the employees. The top three teams were awarded with cash prizes.
Mitrajaya Supports Early Detection & Prevention Programme
In collaboration with the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF), Mitrajaya organised a free health screening for the employees. The screening tests comprise of blood pressure, urine test, body mass index, waist circumference, blood glucose, blood cholesterol and counselling. The event successfully screened a total of 97 employees and raised RM 1,565 in donations to NKF.
Mitrajaya Brings Joy to Orphans and Underprivileged Children
In collaboration with RHA Media, Mitrajaya paid a visit to House of Joy, a charity home located in Puchong and provided assistance in the form of cash donation and daily necessities. A total of 19 Mitrajaya employees participated in this event which included ang pow presentation and an ice-breaking game with the children.
White Water Rafting Adventure
Due to popular demand for adrenalin filled events, a second white water rafting trip at Kuala Kubu Bharu was held again this year. This time, a total of 30 staff from various subsidiaries of Mitrajaya Group joined the trip and it was an opportunity for the staff to foster good team bonding.
Mitrajaya Staff Treated to An All-Expenses Paid Company Trip
The staff of Mitrajaya had a chance to relax and recharge when they were treated to an all-expense paid trip to the beautiful island of Redang.
To promote work-life balance, Mitrajaya Sports and Recreational Club organised a karaoke session at Neway, Puchong. This was a fun and entertaining night whereby our staff belted out a wide range of songs from the golden oldies to the latest chart topping hits.
Chinese New Year Luncheon
In conjunction with the "Chinese New Year – The Year of Monkey" celebrations, all staff were invited for a luncheon held at Mitrajaya's Head Office. A visit from 'Choy San Yeh' (God of Fortune) and the lion dance troupe brought extra festive joy to the event.
Bringing CNY Cheer to Welfare Shelter
Mitrajaya paid a visit to Persatuan Kebajikan Ci Hang-Chempaka, Selangor this Chinese New Year. This home shelter mainly provides accommodation, quality food and health care services to abandoned old folks. The residents had a great time as they were treated to an afternoon of entertainment, light refreshments, ang pow and hamper presentation.
