Corporate Social Responsibility

As a corporate citizen, Mitrajaya is committed to uphold its Corporate Social Responsibility. Over the years, we have been continuously making contributions and sponsorships to various charitable and social organisation events.

Through the auspices of our Sports Club, Mitrajaya has engaged civil society in a number of tangible ways - visits to orphanages, homes for the elderly and disabled.

The Sports Club also promotes the culture of 'Work Smart, Play Hard' amongst for our staff by organising sport activities, excursion trips and family day carnivals amongst others. The Club remains a good conduit to enhance the well-being of our employees and fostering a strong team spirit.

December Double Movie Days

The year ended with not just one, but two exclusive movie events for the Sports Club members and their families. The first event was held at the kid-friendly GSC Play+ Hall which features a playground, slide and a ball pit to keep younger visitors entertained. The crowd was treated to the screening of Frozen 2 which was a hit with both the adults and kids alike. The second event was the screening of the highly anticipated blockbuster, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Mitrajaya Supports Charity Run

Mitrajaya sponsored 10 of its employees to participate in the UTAR Megathon 2019 to raise funds for the new UTAR Hospital project. More than 200 runners joined the eight kilometre charity run which started at UTAR Sungai Long Campus and ended at BMC Mall, Bandar Mahkota Cheras. Drums and dragon dance presentation before the start lifted up the mood and excitement for the run. The event was officiated by UTAR President, Ir Prof Dr Ewe Hong Tat with a ribbon cutting ceremony. After the run, the event continued with stage performances which included a dynamic dance performance by the UTAR Dance Club, an acapella performance and ended with a lively lion dance.

Weekend Getaway to Club Med

The Sports Club planned a weekend getaway, first ever trip to a Club Med, and it was none other than the one in Cherating! There were loads of exciting activities for adults and kids alike, as well as entertainment and a free flow of food and drink. The employees thoroughly enjoyed this partially subsidised trip.

Futsal Tournament

The Sports and Recreational Club organised a futsal tournament at KSL Sport Puchong, where 12 Men's teams and 3 Women's teams competed for top honours and cash prizes. This annual tournament was created to encourage positive interaction and cooperation amongst employees.

Bowling Tournament

Our annual Bowling Tournament was once again held at Wangsa Bowl, One Utama, where 10 teams of 3's vied for top bowling honours and cash prizes. The bowler with the highest individual score was also awarded the Top Scorer trophy and a cash prize.

Local Trip to Pulau Redang

This year the Sports Club organised another beach holiday during the Malaysia Day long weekend, this time to De Taaras at Pulau Redang. Aside from the pristine beaches and calm seas, members got a chance to swim among fishes, coral reefs and even full sized turtles, in the crystal clear water. It was a truly breathtaking experience and a well-deserved break from the hustle and bustle of city life.

34th Anniversary Dinner

Mitrajaya celebrated its 34th Anniversary with a gala dinner at Four Points by Sheraton Puchong, where staff enjoyed a scrumptious buffet, with entertainment from in-house talents and even had a chance to win prizes in lucky draws. It was a memorable night, ending with a select few staff spontaneously breaking into song and dance, amid cheers and laughter and even more dancing till the wee hours.

Overseas Trip to Busan, South Korea

Sports Club members had the privilege to enjoy a subsidised 4D3N trip to the picturesque port city of Busan, South Korea. Members took in the sights and sounds at villages along the famous foothills of its coastal mountains, scenic parks, bustling wet markets, grand temples and the world famous Haeundae Beach. There was even an opportunity to try their hands on Kimchi making and of course there was time for some street shopping too!.

First Aid & CPR Training

The Company organised a 2-day First Aid & CPR Training for its employees. The training was conducted by St. John Ambulans Malaysia, Kawasan Selangor Selatan branch to guide and train our employees on how to correctly administer First Aid & CPR during an emergency medical situation. All participants were required to complete the theory and practical examination at the end of the session in order to be certified as a qualified first aider. All in all, it was a fruitful training event as all of the 39 participants successfully passed the examination and obtained their certifications.

Go Karting Competition

The Sports Club brought back its Go Karting Competition, this time at City Karting, Stadium Shah Alam. 20 members participated in the event, unleashing their inner-Speedy-Gonzales, to be crowned Go Karting Champion. It was 100% of adrenaline and fun, 0% speeding summons issued!

Badminton Tournament

This year's annual Badminton Tournament was once again held at KSL Puchong, with Sports Club members battling it out for top prizes in Men's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Singles, and Women's Doubles draws. Winners walked away with cash prizes and medals, while the rest at least got a good workout!

Team Building at Hauntu

The Sports Club organised a unique team building event this year at Hauntu, The LINC Kuala Lumpur. Hauntu is a blend of live theatre performance, role play and storytelling that comes together to provide an engaging experience. Much more than a haunted house, Hauntu features real actors, audience interaction, intricate mazes and interconnected storylines that centre around a colonial hotel filled with mystery and the paranormal. The participants not only had plenty of trills and excitement but also had an amazing time as they got to take on roles within the storylines.

Mitrajaya Idol 2019

The annual Karaoke competition was held at Neway, Puchong this year. Organised by the Sports & Recreational Club, the participants put their singing skills to the test to battle for the Mitrajaya Idol crown. The top 3 contestants for Male and Female categories were awarded with cash prizes. Everyone had an enjoyable night with buffet dinner, free flow drinks and endless music!

A Visit to the Orphanage

More than 25 employees paid a visit to 60 orphans at the Rumah Anak Yatim At-Taqwa, Puchong in conjunction with the Hari Raya celebrations. The purpose of this event was for the employees to share the spirit of togetherness and festive joy with the less fortunate. The children entertained the employees with a euphonious Nasyid performance. The employees also distributed 'Duit Raya' to the orphans and caretakers. Both Mitrajaya and its staff provided monetary contributions to the orphanage to assist its daily operations.

Hari Raya Get Together Lunch

Mitrajaya once again held another lunch gathering at its Headquarters to celebrate the Hari Raya festive season where employees were treated to delicious local dishes. The event began with the short speech from our Group Managing Director, Mr. Tan Eng Piow, followed by the birthday celebration for staff born in the month of June with the cake cutting ceremony. The event was made merrier by an improvised performance from talented staff singing traditional Hari Raya songs to entertain the crowd.

Basic Health Screening Check-up

Mitrajaya organised a basic health screening check-up for its employees in collaboration with Management & Science University (MSU) Medical Centre. Through this event, we aimed to provide some basic health awareness as well as to promote healthy lifestyle to the employees in order to prevent chronic illnesses and diseases. MSU provided health screening comprised of body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol level tests.

Movie Day + Buka Puasa

The Sports Club brought back the hugely popular Buka Puasa + Movie Day this year, treating members and family to a scrumptious Ramadan buffet at the cinema, followed by a screening of what is expected to be one of the highest grossing blockbusters ever - Avengers : Endgame. The movie didn't disappoint, and whether you were a fan of the franchise or not, it had the thrills and spills, the emotional roller coaster of loss and love, more than living up to the hype as the climatic finale to the Avengers series.

ATV Adventure

The Sports Club organised its first extreme sports event of the year, All Terrain Vehicle Adventure at Ulu Klang, where members joined a 2-hour off-road excursion on 4-wheeled off-road bikes ending with a chance to have a dip at the Sofea Jane Waterfall!

Family Day

Our Family Day was held at our very own water park at Wangsa 9 Residency, Wangsa Maju. It was a day of splashing good fun for the adults and kids alike. Apart from playing at the water park, the staff and their family members took part in some team building games and a checkers tournament. The afternoon concluded with a prize giving ceremony to the winners and everyone was treated to a scrumptious buffet lunch.

Visiting Senior Loved Ones

Mitrajaya once again successfully organised a CSR event and this time we visited Ci-Hang Chempaka Welfare Association, Selangor. A total of 11 employees participated in the event. The aim of this visit was to show care and love to the elderly in the old folk's home. The activities held include donation and hamper presentation to the home. In conjunction with the Chinese New Year, we also had ang pow distribution to the residents and caretakers of Ci-Hang Chempaka Welfare Association. Next, we enjoyed some light refreshments and played some games together with the senior citizens. We closed the event with a karaoke session, it was a rewarding and meaningful visit and everyone had a great time.

Memorable Moments with Youngsters

Mitrajaya organised the first CSR activity for the year 2019 during the Chinese New Year. We visited Pusat Jagaan Ragaventhirar Karunai, Taman Balakong Jaya, Seri Kembangan, a sanctuary for the abused, neglected and under-privileged children between the ages of 3-17 years old. The home had a total of 18 children staying there. In conjunction with the Chinese New Year, the first activity was the ang pow distribution to the children. The highlight of the event was when the children demonstrated an Indian dance performance and all the volunteers participated in the dance, it was the most fun and interactive moments we had. Before end of the event, a simple dinner was served. The Company donated some cash for the daily necessities, sponsored the utilities and house rental for home in order to reduce their burden.

Lunar New Year Celebrations

Mitrajaya Holdings Berhad organised a get-together lunch for all employees at the Headquarters to celebrate Chinese New Year. The Group Managing Director, Mr Tan Eng Piow officiated the event with an auspicious lion dance performance. The performance was later followed by firecrackers set-up which symbolises good luck and fortune throughout the year. The celebration continues with a cake-cutting ceremony for employees who were born in the month of February. The Chinese New Year lunch would not be complete without the traditional toss of Yee Sang for prosperity and good fortune. The event concluded with a delicious buffet lunch.

Dengue Fever Prevention

Pembinaan Mitrajaya Sdn Bhd played a part in the prevention of dengue fever by volunteering in gotong royong events organised by the Health Department of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. Alongside other volunteers, our employees conducted mass fogging and clearing of stagnant water by cleaning-up of drains and clearing of rubbish around the Precinct 11, Putrajaya area. These efforts help to prevent the spread of dengue fever by eliminating the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes.
